NDNC Registry

Demystifying the NDNC Registry

The National Do Not Call (NDNC) Registry, established by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India in 2007, serves as a pivotal database that empowers consumers to shield themselves from unsolicited calls from telemarketers. It is of paramount importance that all telemarketers operating within the Indian market adhere to the conditions stipulated by the Registry.

How the NDNC Registry Operates

For those consumers seeking refuge from incessant marketing calls, the NDNC Registry provides a solution. By simply dispatching a 'STOP' message to 1909, consumers can register their numbers on the Do Not Disturb (DND) list. The Regulatory Authority has instituted measures to deal with violations; any breach of the DND terms can be reported and may result in the imposition of penalties.

Exceptions to the NDNC Registry Regulations

However, it is worth noting that the NDNC Registry does not impose restrictions on all types of calls. Exceptions are made for calls from existing customers, charity organizations, survey researchers, and political campaigns, which are all exempt from NDNC regulations.
