  • Micro-enterprises registered on the Udyam portal will receive credit cards with a Rs. 5 lakh limit. In FY 2025-26, 10 lakh such cards will be issued.

Introduction to MSME

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the foundation of India’s economic growth. The government provides MSME registration to industries that meet the specified criteria, enabling them to access subsidies, tax exemptions, and credit support.

MSME Classification

Initially, MSMEs were classified based on investment in plant, machinery, or equipment. However, the criteria were updated to include annual turnover, and the distinction between manufacturing and service sectors was removed.

Revised MSME Classification (Budget 2025)

Category Investment Limit Turnover Limit
Micro Up to Rs. 2.5 crore Up to Rs. 10 crore
Small Up to Rs. 25 crore Up to Rs. 100 crore
Medium Up to Rs. 125 crore Up to Rs. 500 crore
